Thame Cricket Club are to host Crick Fit sessions, supported by Oxfordshire County Cricket Board, as part of national ECB campaign.

The club will stage a series of fitness sessions for women and girls, starting on Wednesday, June 17, between 6.30-7:30pm, as part of a nationwide initiative to help boost involvement and awareness of women’s sport and participation in cricket.

Thame are inviting females of all abilities and ages to take part in the sessions that are free and will run for eight weeks.

Crick-Fit is a fun and interactive one hour session, encouraging girls to participate in sport by breaking down the perceptions that cricket can be boring and time consuming.

Sheena Beard, Thame’s junior’s section secretary, said: “I am delighted that we are taking this opportunity to work with Oxfordshire Cricket Board to do something for the women and girls in Thame and the surrounding area.

“The sessions are excellent fun, a great outdoor workout to music and everyone is welcome to stay for a glass of Prosecco or soft drink on us after the session! We are lucky enough to be located at the centre of Thame and in one of the most idyllic settings in the County, here at Church Meadow. On a lovely summer’s evening there are worse places you could be exercising!”

Register in advance by emailing sheenabeard@btinternet.com or just turn up on the evening.

Thame run three adult league teams, a Sunday team and a large junior section with age groups from U9s up to U17s.

Over the next two years we are looking to redevelop the clubhouse in partnership with Thame Hockey Club and build a female cricket section.
