Will Sutcliffe struck a fine unbeaten century as Thame Town earned a winning draw in a high-scoring top-of-the-table clash with Tiddington.
On a fine day at Church Meadow, Thame chose to bat first on what looked a good pitch, and they made a solid start by putting on 60 for the first wicket before Higgs fell for 27.
Garg then departed with the score on 86, but Sutcliffe and Harry Thomas added 95 for the third wicket to take Thame to 172-2 from 41 overs.
Thomas fell for 41, however Sutcliffe and Mushtaq played positively in the latter part of the innings to steer Thame to 250-3, with Sutcliffe finishing unbeaten on 132 not out.
Chris Jeffcock struck early in Tiddington’s reply, removing Cooper LBW, but the visitors proceeded to play aggressively as both Rowley and Pykett hit half centuries.
Higgs removed both to leave the score on 152-5 and Tiddington needed 100 off 20 overs but wickets fell regularly and with two overs remaining, they still needed 22 with three wickets in hand. However, a run out and a good catch left them on 230-9 and they played out the last balls for a draw. Higgs ended up with 4-53.
Thame remain second in Cherwell League Division One and travel to Leighton Buzzard this weekend.
Elsewhere, after a terrible start to the innings away to East Oxford, Thame IIs were rescued by an excellent stand of 77 by youngsters Sam Nicholls (44) and Liam Evans (51), and with support late on from Ian McStay, Thame finally reached 120 all out.
In the field, Thame fought all the way, led by Ian McStay (4-25) and Adam Phippen (2-24), with additional wickets from Penny and Nicholls. East Oxford just got over the line for the loss eight of wickets.
A weakened IIIs side lost to Bicester by seven wickets.
