THAME and CHINNOR: Rivals relishing their big cup clash

Thame United and Chinnor FC are both looking forward to their FA Vase meeting.

The clubs are facing off in the first round proper of the competition at the ASM Stadium in Thame tomorrow (Saturday) with a 3pm kick-off.

Turnstiles open at 2.15pm with tickets priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

Thame will start the tie as favourites as they currently sit in sixth place in the Hellenic League Premier Division, the league above Chinnor who are ninth in the Hellenic League Premier Division East.

Thame United manager Mark West said: “It is a game that both teams can look forward to.

“We are expected to win so that puts a bit more pressure on us.

“We have been on a good run in the league recently so our confidence is high ahead of the match.”

Chinnor FC assistant manager Craig Williams said: “This game is massive for the club, the players and supporters.

“We have never won a game in an FA competition and to qualify for the first round proper by beating Henley 6-2 was a great achievement and what better could we have asked for than a tie against our local rivals four miles down the road.

“It will be a great test for our lads, many of whom have played at a higher level and will relish coming up against Thame.”

Both sides will provide mascots for the main match which is being preceded by a junior game between Thame Boys under-10s and Chinnor Youth under-10s, kicking off at 1.30pm.
