A disabled resident has called for the return of a dedicated traffic warden in Thame.
Byron Harvey, 63, who lives in Wellington Street, says he feels it is the only way to solve the town’s parking nightmare.
Mr Harvey said: “We lost our traffic warden three years ago because she retired and was then never replaced.
“Now that we have no traffic warden drivers park wherever they want.
“They park on the grass, on pavements and on zig-zag lines.”
Mr Harvey, who has been wheelchair bound since contracting polio at an early age relies on an assistance dog Ziggy.
He said: “There have been times when I have only been able to get through in my wheelchair with centimetres to spare because cars or sometimes delivery lorries are blocking the pavement.
“It makes it dangerous for my dog as well because he has to walk very close to the kerb and that can spook him.
“It also makes it very difficult for people with prams and pushchairs to get through.”
Mr Harvey said he felt the worst areas in Thame for parking issues were the town centre, Wellington Street, East Street and Chinnor Road.
He added: “My message to people in Thame is to take responsibility and think of others when you park and walk that bit further if you have to.”
Although traffic wardens in some parts of Oxfordshire are the responsibility of the county council, in Thame it lies with Thames Valley Police who were not available for comment.
