All toys must go this weekend as Thame Toy Library holds its closing down sale.

The library, based at The Barns Centre is shutting after 18 years because of a lack of funds and volunteers.

The sale runs from 10.30am to 2pm today (Saturday) and all money will be split between two charities The Jack O’Donnell Foundation and Alecs Angels.

The library has not been functioning for the last 18 months.

It is not a profit-making organisation but it does need to make money and although it was initially a weekly pursuit this was subsequently reduced to a monthly basis.

Jane Branch, volunteer at the library from 1996 to 2004 said: “The facility was very popular when it was first set up.

“It is difficult for me to comment on how well used it is now because I am not really involved with it.

“I am sure it will be missed though now it is gone.”

The Thame Gazette did try to contact a current volunteer.
