AYLESBURY FC manager Steve Smith has billed February as a ‘huge month’ for his side.

The Moles have endured a torrid season so far but seemed to turn things around two weeks ago with a 2-0 win against league-leaders Slough.

Any joy garnered from that match quickly turned to despair when they were thrashed 9-2 by St Neots seven days later.

Their game against Barton Rovers on Saturday was called off and the club is set to play of games against Leighton Town this Saturday and Daventry on Tuesday.

“Both those teams are just above us in the league by a couple of places so they are huge games.

“We will be looking to get as many points as possible from them.

“I have already said that February is a huge month for us. We are playing lots of teams around us.

“We looked at the Slough and St Neots games beforehand and almost wrote them off. But we got three points from them and that’s more than we were expecting.

“Now we’ve got to push on and I’m looking to get nine or 10 points from the next four games.

“Hopefully we will be safe and sound by the beginning of March.

“It was such a shame the Barton game was called off. What we needed was a run out to get the St Neots debacle out of our heads.”

FC have secured the loan of Oxford United striker Tyrone Marsh.
