An honours degree can be taken in town for the first time from May as Aylesbury College offers its landmark first course.

Bucks New University is bringing a BA (Hons) Business Management course to the Oxford Road college and is now inviting applications.

The three-year undergraduate course will be taught by Bucks New University lecturers on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, costing £15,000.

Graeme Lindsay, head of academic department for business and management at the university, said the move marks ‘an exciting chapter’.

He said: “This gives people the opportunity to gain a degree on your doorstep and avoid the time and cost associated with travel.

“The degree at Aylesbury College is set up so people can shape their studies around their working or family lives.

“We hope that teaching hours on a Friday afternoon and Saturday will be convenient.

Mr Lindsay added: “We feel this represents another development where Bucks New University is showing our commitment to offering education that meets the needs of people today.”

The course is aimed at a variety of people from students who have completed similar qualifications at Aylesbury College, to simply people who live in the area.

Others may just want to study for a degree or employers may wish to develop their staff.

Students enrolled on the course will be entitled to many of the benefits other Bucks New students enjoy, including access to its library.

The university is holding a drop-in session at Aylesbury College on March 26 (5pm-7pm) at which staff will be available to discuss the course and offer guidance with applications.
