Thame Show is returning to its traditional spot on the third Thursday in September due to public demand.
The historic show was founded more than 130 years ago and always took place in September but moved to a July date in 2010.
Since then gates have been down and traders have stayed away.
Last year’s show, held on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, hit a new low with no main ring attraction, no public bar and a very poor turnout.
Show director Chris Parker said: “We held a public consultation, a questionnaire was sent out around Thame and we had an astonishing and nice response from hundreds of people.
“The overwhelming support was for a return to our traditional date on the third Thursday in September. So we have done what the public has asked, and I think it is the right decision.
“I feel very positive and excited. We already have more than 100 trade bookings.”
The main ring attraction at the show on Thursday September 18, will be The Kangaroo Kid, a stunt rider from Australia.
The public bar is also returning, and all children under the age of 16 will have free entry when accompanied by a paying adult. So a family of four can get in for £24 if they buy their tickets in advance.
In the past Thame schools have always given their pupils the day off to attend the show.
As this is not happening this year, the show is providing educational events and a showcase stage for school bands and choirs in the hope schools will bring their pupils as a school trip. The show president for the year is Mrs Philippa Wills from Great Milton.
