A young gymnast from Thame who trains at Lynx Gym in Aylesbury has been invited to compete in an international tournament in the United States.

Madison Hobman, 11, has been given an honorary invitation to the USAIGC World Championships later this year.

Madison was awarded her place in the bronze level category at the invitational event, to be held in Florida later this year, after finishing in third place in the UK Championships in the 11-13 age group.

Madison’s coach Aimee Gibson, who has coached at Lynx Gym for 14 years said: “UK Gymnastics officials have been selecting gymnasts from across the UK to compete at the USAIGC World Championships in June.

“There have only been four other clubs in the UK selected to go.

“We were delighted when we received the invitation letter.

“I have trained Madison for two years and she is a very hard-working athlete who is always willing to listen and take what you say on board.”

Madison, who is in her first year at Lord Williams’s School in Thame, said she felt very excited about the opportunity to compete overseas.

She said: “I can’t wait, I would like to win a medal, but I know it will be a tough competition.

“I will do my best and have fun. I will bring home lots of memories and maybe a medal.”

This year will be the first time that Lynx, based in Rabans Close, have been given the chance to compete in the competition, which takes place in Orlando in June.
