IT was always going to be tough for Thame’s netballers against top of the league Chiltern Flyers.
Signs were looking ominous as Chiltern stormed into a 4-1 lead, but Thame held on and things looked brighter in the second quarter as the team relaxed and began to produce some fine passing moves.
The quarter was a lot closer with Carol finishing off a nice move and Thame again kept in touch with the leaders in the third quarter but could never get close enough to exert any real pressure.
As soon as they looked like they were getting close, Chiltern sparked into gear to keep Thame at bay.
Thame still stood an outside chance going into the final quarter and things looked positive at 22-26 but this is as good as it got for Thame as one of the Flyers called for an unexpected time out to have a drink.
This took the wind out of Thame’s attack as the game ended 22-29.
