Bucks Trading Standards are investigating instances of water being sold as fruit juice in Aylesbury.
They said that some manufacturers are ‘adding too much water to reconstitute juice from juice concentrated abroad’ which essentially means ‘cheap water is being sold as expensive fruit juice’.
Officers sampled 115 different flavours of fruit juice from 28 different brands and found 10 samples to be in breach of their regulations.
During their investigations, the officers visited 15 premises in Bucks, 11 of which were in Aylesbury.
The samples of fruit juice were all sent to the public analyst, who tested them.
Trading Standards said it informed the companies in question and will continue to investigate and monitor the situation.
Some labelling issues were also found with the products, with the worst being an unauthorised health claim on prune juice.
