An Aylesbury benefits cheat who falsely claimed more than £3,500 while he was out of the country has appeared before magistrates.
Abdullah Mourad (aka Abdellah Mourad) continued to claim income support and housing and council tax benefit while absent from the UK.
He was caught in a joint operation by Aylesbury Vale District Council fraud investigators and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Mourad, aged 55, of Griffin Place, pleaded guilty to three charges of failing to notify a change of circumstances affecting his entitlement to benefits.
He received overpayments of £3,486 in income support and in housing and council tax benefit.
Magistrates sentenced Mourad to a one-year conditional discharge.
He will also have to repay all of the overpaid benefit.
