More than £12,500 has so far been been raised from a charity abseil at County Hall on Saturday.
The brave participants aged from 14 to over 70 included two champion swimmers, the High Sheriff, Superman and the Herald’s advertising display manager.
Bethany Lever, 15, from Bedgrove, was one of the youngest to take part after her mum saw the challenge advertised.
She said: “I’ve abseiled before at Green Park but it’s not as high as this. I was scared at the top, the worst part was the start. I still feel shaky now it’s all over.”
County council leader Martin Tett and chief executive Chris Williams (dressed as Superman) were the first over the top and when they’d finished Mr Tett said he was so exhilerated he wanted to do it again.
Council chairman Carl Etholen and High Sheriff Sir StuartHampson followed close on their heels.
Sir Stuart said: “That was quite an experience. I’ve not abseiled for 48 years since I went mountain climbing in Cornwall with my school.”
He said he closed his mind to the challenge when he was at the top of the tower block and had a ‘bizarre’ conversation about the importance of Latin with the other abseilers.
“I think we were trying to avoid thinking about what we were about to do,” he said.
The Bucks Herald’s Kelly Williams was watched by her fiance Dave Pauling and several colleagues.
After she reached the bottom she said: “I’m so excited and thrilled that I did it. It was really high and I’m shaking now. I actually felt worse halfway down than I did at the top.”
National swimming medallists Caleb Hughes and Shauna Lee said the challenge was harder than swimming.
More than £12,500 has been raised for Buckinghamshire Youth Bank to date.
