Members of Thame Youth Theatre are in with a chance of performing at the National Theatre in London.
The group will be taking part in the National Theatre’s Connections project later this year.
If successful in the preliminary phases, they would then perform at a regional professional venue and finally at the National Theatre.
Tom Mackriell, youth arts development manager at the youth theatre, said: “This project is a fantastic opportunity for the Thame Youth Theatre as it will give our young actors unique opportunities to experience and perform at a national standard.
“We have also been awarded a half bursary to take part in the project which is a great boost to our development as a youth theatre.”
The group want as many people as possible from the community to get involved in the project.
To help achieve this aim, they will be holding free open workshops on September 16 and 20 for new members aged 14 to 18.
Mr Mackriell said: “These workshops will allow us to open up more spaces for our youth community which is one of our main goals here at the Thame Youth Theatre.”
Connections is a national festival of new writing and young theatre making.
New plays commissioned by the National Theatre will be performed by youth theatre groups across the UK, with professional support from the National Theatre and other theatres.
