A touring exhibition about the history of the Metropolitan Line is on show at Quainton this weekend.

Quainton Road station is at the furthest end of an area once known as Metroland on the Metropolitan railway.

The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre exhibition is part of London Transport Museum’s celebrations of 150 years of the underground.

Attractions will include rides in vintage carriages pulled by Victorian steam locomotives, family fun activities with badge-making, interactive story-telling and a bouncy castle, as well as talks, films and a Metroland trail to follow.

Static outdoor displays will include a Brill Tramway tram of 1872 with original locomotive.

Visitors will be able to ride to the railway centre from Aylesbury Vale Parkway Station on a free vintage bus.

The exhibition is also showing on Wednesday, August 7, next week.

On Tuesday, August 6, there will be a special connoisseurs day with expert talks, special locomotives and behind-the-scenes visits. Buffet lunch is included.

Advance booking is essential for this event. Call 01296 655720.
