Allowing motorists to park on double yellow lines for up to 15 minutes would be welcomed in Aylesbury, a leading councillor has said.
It has been reported that Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles MP is proposing allowing drivers a ‘grace period’ so they can pop into shops, something which it is hoped could help boost the economy.
Councillor Brian Roberts, cabinet member for civic amenities at Aylesbury Vale District Council, said he thinks it is a great idea.
Mr Roberts, who also sits on the town council, said: “As long as it’s done properly and safety is taken into account I think it would be great.
“High streets need that flexibility at the moment and anything we can do to help would be good.”
