A group of friends who arrange day trips, evenings out and short holidays to many parts of this country and Europe are celebrating their 21st year.
Since its foundation in 1992, the Aylesbury based group For Pure Pleasure (FPP) has grown from a few friends to more than 100 members.
And while enjoying trips to Paris, the Lake District, castles, gardens and art galleries, the group also supports Rennie Grove Hospice Care and has raised more than £20,000 for it.
Founder member Valerie Woodford said: “About three years after our first trip, the membership had grown to support our finances.
“Enjoying adventures together was our main purpose but we felt we were being a bit hedonistic and wanted to support a charity.
“Some of us had attended Iain Rennie events and when we learned more about the work of its nurses, caring for seriously ill people in their own homes, we were convinced.
“We began raising money to support them in 1995 and have continued ever since.”
With a widespread membership, new members are always welcome at FPP and the group now has trip pick-up points in Aylesbury, Bourne End and Rickmansworth.
Activities this summer include an August visit to the gardens at Prince Charles’s home, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, and a four-day holiday in Shropshire during September.
