Full steam ahead for new railways’ ‘App and Go’

Chiltern Railways has introduced a mobile phone app which passengers can use to buy tickets then scan at station barriers.

The rail company are the first to provide tickets on the phone.

The new system called ‘App and Go’ is designed to save people time, who do not travel frequently enough for a season ticket but would rather not queue every morning at machines.

Commercial director Thomas Ableman said: “Infrequent commuting just got easier. We know that customers want ease and speed and no queues.

“People use phones for so much more than communication and transport is an obvious fit. No-one leaves home without their phone.

“We’re giving customers the ability to have a ticket on their most used item constantly on hand. What could be quicker or simpler than this?”
