Oakely School pupils put on their dancing shoes and best singing voices for a production of Olivia.
The Year 6 pupils spent a busy six weeks preparing for the play which was shown twice this week.
Olivia is a female twist on the tale of the famous musical ‘Oliver’ and tells the story of an orphan’s journey to the bright lights of London and how she becomes a singer.
Class teacher and organiser Charlie Rogers said: “It went really well. Nobody messed up their lines, the costumes looked fantastic and they all really got into character.”
Ms Rogers chose the musical as it tied in well with the year’s Victorian studies and said she was impressed by the 40 students.
She added: “Obviously we have done Olivia which is a twist of Oliver Twist. They have all worked so hard.
“They have all put in homework time and they have a lot of lines to learn.”
Ms Rogers chose, casted and directed the sho and said she was delighted with the final outcome.
She said: “This is the first production I’ve been involved in. It’s been brilliant and very tiring.”
The teacher also paid tribute to parents for their support, addding: “They’ve been really supportive especially as for the Year 6 students it’s the last time at Oakley they will be involved in something like this.”
