The Oxfordshire County and Thame Show returns on Saturday for the first time in nearly two years and organisers are backing it to be one of the best ever.

The 2012 event at Thame Showground was cancelled as it clashed with the Olympic opening ceremony and in the wake of heavy losses from 2011.

But organiser Chris Parker said he is thrilled to be bringing the show back.

He said: “I can’t wait. We have got some good weather for it. You would like to think there will be 12,000 plus people there if it’s a nice day and that’s only the paying public.

“It’s nice to be back, it would be such a shame to lose an event like this. It takes a year to put the show together.”

As usual the show features something for everyone from animals, brilliant and skilful demonstrations to plenty of good grub and drink.

Dubbed England’s ‘greatest agricultural show’ there will once again be a countryside arena with entertainment ranging from pig agility to horse whispering, falconry, sheepdogs herding ducks and terrier and ferret racing.

In the main ring there will be top class show jumping competitions and scurry driving while the lamb national sheep race remains a popular event.

New this year is a food and drink village which will offer a wide range of local produce.

Tickets are £15 for adults, £5 per junior, under-5s go free and senior Citizens are £10 (all gate prices). Gates open at 8am.
