Health chiefs will wait until September before deciding whether to hold a probe into Bucks A&E services.
Around 13,700 people have signed a petition calling for an inquiry following the centralisation of services from Wycombe to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
At a meeting this morning, the health and adult social care select committee said it would wait until it had reviewed Sir Bruce Keogh’s report into high death rates at Bucks hospitals before deciding on holding its own inquiry.
Committee chairman Councillor Lin Hazell said: “If we feel as a committee that we need to go deeper or there is still a lack of service or failings we will then go into an inquiry.
“I’m not saying there will definitely be an inquiry.
“We will review all the evidence in September.”
Health bosses are being grilled about changes to services brought in last October.
