Yob attacks man just for laughing on night out in Aylesbury

A teenage yob attacked a man after he laughed at his friend on a drink fuelled night out.

Jake Glendening, 19, of Balfour Way, Aylesbury, twice attacked Kavar Varia outside Sainsbury’s and in Market Square shortly after 2.45am on June 14 leaving him with multiple facial bruises and a 2cm cut, Aylesbury Magistrates Court heard.

Glendening had visited Stars Bar, Niche and Mirage with friends before he attacked Mr Varia. The victim had witnessed Glendening’s friend trip over in Niche and laughed, leading to the altercation.

When confronted Mr Varia said: “You need to grow up and just laugh it off.”

Glendening, who admitted assault by beating, told the victim he had seen him in town before and thought he was a good guy before he suddenly attacked him.

CCTV footage shows Glendening pushing Mr Varia and punching him in the face several times.

The victim managed to flee but tripped over as he was chased in Market Square.

He was then kicked while on the ground before escaping and calling police.

Nicola Hicks, defending Glendening, told Athe court her client was extremely remorseful for his actions.

She said: “When he saw the CCTV he felt very concerned for the victim.

“Drink was involved and he has stopped drinking since that incident.

“It was an impulsive action, it wasn’t premeditated. Something was said to make him act like that.”

Glendening will be sentenced on July 29 at Aylesbury Magistrates Court.

Another man Jamie Webber, 20, of Brotheridge Court, has pleaded not guilty to assault against Mr Varia.

His case will go to trial at Aylesbury Magistrates Court on October 11.
