Thame put on their best performance of the season but could only snare a draw in a tense away game at Banbury.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first and when they quickly racked up a daunting 150-0 it looked like a good decision.

But Thame bowlers finally found their stride and some good tight bowling from George Patey, John Maynard, and skipper Mike Higgs, helped peg Banbury back to a competitive 227 for 7.

Skipper Higgs stole the plaudits as he reeled off an impressive six wickets for 93 runs.

Thame needed a quick start off the bat but instead they started slowly. However, some explosive batting from Sam Lachlan, Will Sutcliffe (36), Alistair Thomas (35) and Deon Laubscher (49) kept the visitors within touching distance for most of the game.

However, Thame eventually lost too many wickets and had to settle for a draw as they batted out the overs to finish on 199 for 9.

It marked a frustrating end to the game as Thame appeared to be reeling in their opponents’ total until their late collapse.

Meanwhile, Thame Seconds endured a frustrating game against Twyford Seconds as they lost by 80 runs.

Despite making a good start Thame could only manage 106 runs.

Lastly, Thame Thirds lost out to a strong Kingston Bagpuize Seconds by eight wickets.
