Thame community groups are being encouraged to stage free sports events with the help of new lottery funding.
The Community Games Fund can provide a maximum of £200 per event to help organisations put on the events.
The scheme is being backed as a means of continuing the legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with £1000 available in each district.
Leisure guru Bill Service said: “Last year we saw how sport can get the whole country to really pull together.
“Now it’s time to see what our local communities can achieve.
“This funding provides a great starting point for people to come together and come up with a sport and cultural event to benefit their local area.”
The money can be used to pay for coaches, insurance cover, resources and materials, hiring of facilities, equipment or transportation.
The fund is being provided by the National Lottery Legacy Trust and administered by district council together with the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership.
