Up to 5,500 schoolchildren in Bucks will benefit from cycle training after Bucks County Council secured a £200,000 grant from the government.

Bikeability Cycle Training, a national initiative, provides cycling experience to trainees which enables them to deal with traffic confidently on short journeys such as cycling to school.

The aim is to encourage greater use of cycling to cut traffic jams and emissions.

County Councillor Janet Blake, cabinet member for planning and transportation said: “With this continued Government funding for Bikeability Cycle Training we will be able to provide schoolchildren in Bucks with essential cycling skills and road safety awareness.”
