Charity and businesses teaming up for the community

Dozens of Aylesbury businesses are collaborating with a popular charity.

Florence Nightingale Hospice’s Corporate Companions scheme works with local businesses free of charge to promote its own work and the companies’.

Hospice marketing manager Sam Heggie said: “It’s a great way to work together.

“They come to us and ask how they can put events on in the office. It’s an opportunity to promote them, too. For us it’s about fundraising as we have a set amount each year to raise (£600,000) and that’s going up all the time.”

The hospice has been running the scheme for five years and collaborates with between 15 and 20 businesses.

Partners include KY Green, Ginger Interiors, Evolution Live, Purple Frog, Make-A-Donation, The Share Centre and DigiPrint Graphics. The companies will often volunteer staff for fundraising events.

For example, Evolution Live supports an annual Fashion Show at Aylesbury High School by providing expertise, lighting, staging and equipment.

Ms Heggie added: “It isn’t just about the money – working with local businesses is vital for us in so many other ways. We couldn’t put on half of our events without the support of companies and their staff.”
