The boss of Aylesbury’s new Waitrose expects the store’s opening to bring a boost to businesses throughout town.
Many companies are feeling the squeeze at the moment and branch manager Rose Lawrence hopes the supermarket, which is due to open at the Waterside development in August, will provide a welcome tonic.
She said: “Very often there is an increase in footfall for a town area when we open a store.
“It would be excellent if that could benefit other businesses in Aylesbury.”
There has been huge interest in jobs at the store, with 1,337 people applying for the 140 positions on offer, a response Ms Lawrence described as ‘overwhelming’.
