A trailblazing woman has been shortlisted for a national award.

Long-Crendon based Gill Riley heads up the GGR group, a business which supplies specialist machines and mini cranes.

Ms Riley has been recognised in the First Women Awards for her achievements transforming GGR from a small family-run company to a global organisation with a turnover of over £14 million.

She also helped to get a mini crane to a record breaking height when she was working on the London Shard project.

Throughout her career, Ms Riley has designed and manufactured pioneering robotic glass-lifters.

She is also mother to her BAFTA award-winning daughter, Hayley, who is the voice of children’s TV star Peppa Pig.

Now in their eighth year, the First Women Awards were created by Real Business and the CBI to recognise trailblazing women, from finance and the media to engineering and public service, whose achievements are helping to inspire future generations.

The awards ceremony is due to take place at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square on June 12.

It will be hosted by broadcaster and sports presenter, Clare Balding.
