Wendover Woods is set for a £3.8 million expansion and improvement after plans were approved.
The Forestry Commission will relocate its car parking facilities, expand its cafe, build a cycle hire building, visitor centre and improve children’s play areas and toilet facilities.
The commission’s beat forester Joanne Mason said: “This is great news. The relocation of the car park means the traffic up there will be a lot better. “At the moment cars and people are all mingling together. It will make the whole area more safe, open and free.”
Ms Mason added the improvements reflected a growing population and more people going out in the countryside year on year.
Ms Mason added that building work would begin after the summer months when it was quieter at the woods.
