THE owner of Stoke Mandeville’s Obsidian Gallery says it is a ‘wonderful accolade’ that seven Bucks artworks have been chosen for the The House of Lords’ permanent collection.
All the paintings were created by Thames Valley artists Alan Kidd, Laura Boswell and Edward Stamp, who regularly exhibit at the Obsidian.
The Lords’ Works of Art Committee is looking to buy paintings which represent every part of the UK.
Before Christmas it bought work by Winslow-based artist Laura Boswell.
Committee members were so impressed that they contacted the Obsidian Gallery again to see what else was on display.
The latest works will be displayed in the refurbished office and meeting rooms in Millbank House.
The paintings will also form part of the publicly-owned Parliamentary art collection.
Trisha Woodcock, owner of the Obsidian Gallery, said: “We were flattered to be approached by the House of Lords, and delighted when they informed us that they wanted to purchase seven pieces.
“It’s a wonderful accolade for the artists to have their work included in a national collection.”
