Ready for business: Co-Op set to open in revamped Walton Court centre

A Co-Operative store will open its doors to the public after a £545,000 revitalisation next Thursday.

The shop is the first element of the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust’s Walton Court Shopping Centre regeneration project to open.

The centre has been a notorious hotspot for anti-social behaviour in the past – but it has hoped the revamp be the start of a brighter new era for the area..

Store manager Robert Browning said: “We’re all really looking forward to welcoming customers to our new, family-focused store, which will also have extended opening hours on a Sunday for convenience.

“In the current economic climate, we know it’s more important than ever for shoppers to be able to find great food, at great prices, close to home.”

The shop will also include a Post Office offering mail transactions, home shopping returns, and online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Ashmead Combined School pupils will unveil the store and the school will receive a £200 donation.

Mr Browning added: “We’re committed to playing a real role in the life of the Aylesbury community and it is fantastic that our local school can join us on our special day.

“By increasing the number of family-based offers in store, we hope to be able to help local people stick to their weekly family budget.”
