United extend unbeaten run to 25 games

Aylesbury United stretched their record unbeaten streak to 25 games but again dropped two points on the road in a 1-1 draw at Hanwell Town.

Dunstable Town have already wrapped up the South Midlands Premier League title but the Ducks face a battle to finish as runners up with Oxhey Jets only seven points behind and with four games in hand.

For the third successive away game United drew 1-1 but in truth it was a fair result.

The first half wasn’t the greatest spectacle, but Aylesbury edged it courtesy of Steve Hatch’s 26th minute goal.

Hanwell raised their game after the break and their front pairing of Healey and Taravov were a regular threat.

It was winger Kyle Watson who found the equaliser however when his 70th minute shot bounced off the turf past Jack Sillitoe.

Both sides had further chances right up until the end when substitute Ben Hill’s last minute free kick dipped just over the bar.

Once again, the Ducks looked dead on their feet by the end of the game and came under heavy pressure at times, but held on for a hard earned point.

United now travel to London Tigers on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
