Nearly £13,000 was raised for charities during an evening of entertainment hosted by the Mayor of Thame.
Councillor Nigel Champken-Woods hosted the Mayor’s Big Bash to raise money for the Service by Emergency Riders and Volunteers, of which he is a volunteer driver, and Sharing Life Trust, a Thame-based charity providing practical and emotional support for people.
The venue, The Spread Eagle Hotel, was at capacity with cover band Ska Souls filling the dance floor and a spread was provided by the hotel’s chef.
Two raffles and a silent auction featuring donations from Thame businesses helped raise £1,277.
One of the quirkiest items, a personalised barrel of beer from the Cross Keys, went for £130.
There will be another chance to take part in one of the mayor’s fundraising events when he hosts a town hall quiz at 7pm on April 6.
Teams of six to eight are needed, with tickets costing £5. To enter call 01844 215629.
