Chinnor were left shell shocked as they threw away a comfortable lead to lose 21-17 to Dings Crusaders.
The black-and-whites were in cruise control at Kingsey Road with a 17-0 lead heading into the final quarter.
But a late trio of tries from the Crusaders stunned Chinnor with the last coming with two minutes to spare. A conversion rubbed salt into the wounds. Kingsey Road has been a fortress for Chinnor all season with only one loss prior to this game.
And Jason Bowers’ side did not look likely to budge an inch in this contest.
Joe Pickett crashed over from a rolling maul and Matt Goode burst over for the home side in the opening 30 minutes and with Will Millet proving trusty with the boot it looked like a good day at the office.
The Crusaders barely got a sniff of the Chinnor line all day but they kept going and in the 59th minute their persistence paid off.
After their opening try there was still plenty of time for the black-and-whites regain their composure.
But instead Dings lay siege to the Chinnor line.
After crossing in the 74th minute to make 17-14 the nerves in the Chinnor ranks were clear before the stunning finale.
Chinnor have a weekend off and their next game is at Shelford on March 23 (kick-off 3pm).
