Aylesbury racer Tom Ingram is in confident mood as he prepares for the start of the Ginetta GT Supercup in which he so impressed last season.

The competition, supported by the British Touring Car Championship, revs into action at Brands Hatch on March 30.

And the JHR Developments driver, who finished an impressive third in his maiden season, is now eyeing the top prize this time round.

He said: “My confidence both in the car and inside the team is really high right now and I’m really looking forward to working with all the boys again.

“We know how each other operates and I’d like to think all this will enable us to hit the ground running in the first round at Brands Hatch. I can’t wait for it all to kick off.

“It’s always difficult to accurately assess competitiveness at this early stage of proceedings, but there’s no question that the calibre is going to be exceptionally high – there are plenty of very quick drivers in the field, both returnees and newcomers. I want to take everything I learned last year and really shift it up another gear.

“We need to show exactly what we’re capable of right from the word go, because there’s only one aim in 2013 – the title.”

His ambition has been boosted by sponsors electronic cigarette pioneers Skycig and energy drinks brand KX reaffirming their backing at such an early stage pre-season.

The 19 year old said: “Skycig have really ramped up their involvement and come on board in a big way this year.

“They were clearly pleased with the results of our relationship last year, and having their support again is a massive boost to our challenge.

“For me, it’s amazing and such a novelty to have two major brands confirmed as partners so far in advance of the season. That’s an incredibly exciting prospect. It gives us the possibility to get some testing in, which is a luxury we’ve never really had before – so now it’s up to us to make the most of it. The Ginetta GT Supercup is aired on ITV 4. It comes to Silverstone on September 28.
