Entertainment lovers can do their bit for the community by supporting a charity music festival.
Thame’s Music in the Park is back for a third successive year on May 12 as it aims to raise money to improve Elms Park.
Organiser and marketing volunteer Steve Gunn said: “We look to improve facilities for the local community.
“One of the kind of projects is putting in lighting so you will feel safer to walk through the park when it’s dark.
“And looking at a possible bandstand so we can have events more regularly.”
Last year the event attracted more than 3,000 people with more than £7,000 raised for Friends of Elm Park.
Mr Gunn added: “Last year exceeded our expectations. We are mindful to being too hopeful of smashing those records again.
“We’ve got some bigger acts from outside of town. But it’s also a fantastic platform for local bands too.
“I think live music is fantastic. Even things I would not listen to or buy a CD of when you see a live performance you really appreciate the time they put in. It’s a great thing to be involved with.”
This year’s line up includes Hats off to Led Zeppelin, the tribute act that wowed visitors last year, as well as the Dung Beatles ,Stone Cold Broke and Bootlegger.
Headlining will be Oxfordshire-based Bolt from the Blue, who have a mix of soul and R&B classics.
Ticket prices are yet to be set but last year’s cost £6 an adult, £8 on the door and £16 for a family ticket, £20 on the door.
Tickets are set to go on sale in March.
