Fears have been raised over the cost burdened on a parish council for hosting an RAF parade.
Wendover Parish Council has authorised the spending of up to £3,000 on traffic management for the RAF Freedom of the Vale parade in the village next month.
But the authority is seeking help from the district and county councils to cover the expense.
Councillors warned the parish may not have the ‘resources or the capacity’ to pay all the costs without using up reserves.
It was suggested the council could threaten to pull the plug on the event, but chairman Bob Duggan warned it would end up with ‘egg on its face’ if it did so.
Wendover High Street will be closed on March 22 from 9.30am to 12.30pm for the event, with a number of other rolling road closures in place.
The council has been told a professional traffic management company must organise the closures and road signs and this could cost in the region of £2,500 to £3,000.
