The cross country calendar has been one of many sports to suffer at the hands of the wintry weather over the past week.

This weekend saw the postponement of the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill, which have been rearranged for Saturday February 16.

Fortunately, several Vale of Aylesbury athletes headed to the London/U20 Indoor Games which were held at Lee Valley across two days.

It was a good weekend for Karl Goodman (U23) who ran the 400m on Saturday finishing third in an indoor PB time of 51:27. He followed this on Sunday with an 800m race which he won in a PB of 1:59:90, and he will be delighted to have broken the two-minute barrier having moved from sprinting to middle distance.

Lou Card was Vale’s only lady 400m competitor finishing seco nd in a season’s best time of 61.88 which also breaks her own Club Record.

Vale’s other athletes both ran in the 800m races on Sunday. Mark Fallaize finished 2nd in 1:57:78; this was reported as a rough race and Mark came through well to finish as he did.

Last, but certainly not least, Andrew Rolt who runs in the V45 age category, put on a season’s best of 2:12:26 which is not only a new indoor club record, but also beats the outdoor record by 1.5 seconds!
