A landlord’s bid for a 24 hour licence has failed for the second time in three years.

Kyle Michael, who owns nightclub and bar Mango in Temple Street, Aylesbury, wanted to extend his hours of trading until 7am at weekends and 5am during the week.

Mr Michael presented 231 signatures on an online petition to support his cause which said that ‘not everyone now works nine to five and society has moved on since the establishment of the saturation policy’.

Aylesbury Vale District Council rejected the case with the licencing sub-committee yet to publish its official
reasonings.

Mr Michael said he may consider pursuing an appeal through the courts.

He said: “I am disappointed that the licensing committee reached the decision they did following no evidence of any problems directly associated with Mango or its operation.

“The council is not moving on with the times or recognising the individual nature of the premises which it is required to do under law, but instead chooses to use an outdated sledgehammer policy to crack a small nut problem.”
