Thame’s food bank, which helps people most in need, is celebrating its first anniversary.
Run by local charity Sharing Life Trust, the food bank has helped more than 150 people in its first year. Despite its rural charm, the charity says Thame is home to an increasing number of families struggling to make ends meet.
At Christmas the trust distributed 85 basic food parcels with a seasonal twist to people nominated by agencies, who have been referring people who they knew would benefit the most.
A trust spokesman said: “The food bank couldn’t operate without the generous support of the many people who regularly add a few extra items to their shopping list and take them to one of our town centre drop-in points.
“We are very grateful for this support and especially for all the special Christmas food items donated during our Saturday collection at Waitrose.”
