Thame proved their championship credentials with a strong 3-0 home win over promotion rivals West Hampstead, despite a slow start.
In the first half the home side struggled to shake off the after-effects of a five-week winter break and should have been punished by their wasteful opponents.
Thame consistently squandered possession, sometimes in very dangerous positions, however poor finishing from the visitors and a number of saves from Andy Sykes meant the two sides went into the break deadlocked.
But the second period was a totally different story with the home side stepping up a gear and dominating from start to finish.
The first goal was always going to be crucial and when it came it was thanks to an element of fortune as Sawrey-Cookson saw his intended pass crept in.
Gareth Birkett made it 2-0 before Sawrey-Cookson weaved his magic to find the same man again in space at the top of the area and he made it 3-0.
The final whistle saw second place Thame put a seven-point gap between themselves and third, behind leaders Wallingford on goal difference.
Thame play Oxford away this Saturday.
