Numerous schools throughout the Vale have announced they will close early (today) due to increasing snowfall.

Brill CofE School took early action by closing a day early in anticipation of the snowfall.

The school said problems with its heating meant five classrooms were too cold to be used.

It has advised parents to check the school website on Monday for news on any further closures. {http://www.brill.bucks.sch.uk|Click here|click here for more}

Many other have now taken similar measures due to the increasing snowfall and have requested buses and parents to collect students from midday.

Meanwhile, Transport for Bucks officials at Bucks County Council, the body in charge of gritting the roads, has issued a warning to motorists.

It said: “Road temperatures today have remained below zero and therefore we will be salting the primary routes tonight.

“This will mean, however there is a potential for ice to form on our secondary routes. With this being the case, tomorrow our crews will be salting the secondary routes throughout the day in order to alleviate the potential ice and get some salt down in preparation for snow.

“These routes may not then be routinely salted if bad weather ensues as we will be focussing on keeping the primary routes clear. Once secondary routes have been completed, our gritters will move to treat the primary routes and will have these completed by the end of the day.

“This will ensure that there is salt down before a cold night and allow our teams a break before a possible run at 04.00 on Friday morning prior to snowfall.”
