Fewer motorists were caught drink driving in the Thames Valley area this festive period compared to last year.
Between December 1 2012 and January 1 2013, 278 drivers were arrested for driving with excess alcohol in their system, compared to 299 in the same period in 2011.
In Aylesbury Vale 16 people were arrested for drink driving during this period, with 20 caught in Chiltern and South Bucks.
Of those arrested across the Thames Valley, 74% were men and 26% women.
Police said it was ‘really encouraging’ to see a decrease in arrests, but disappointing some people still take the risk.
Of the drivers who failed the test, 6% were three times over the limit.
