A series of thefts from cars in Aylesbury have prompted police to warn people not to leave anything in unattended vehicles.

Recently cars have been broken into in the Bedgrove and Broughton areas and valuables including mobile phones, wallets, purses and handbags have been taken.

Sgt Jim Forrest from Aylesbury police station said even leaving items such as sat navs in the glove compartment or loose change lying about can be dangerous and attract thieves.

Sgt Forrest said: “I urge car-owners not to leave valuable items on show in their cars as this makes your car an easy target for thieves.

“The advice is not to leave anything on display and make sure your car is empty of items such as iPads, phones, wallets, purses and handbags.”

Anyone with information in relation to a theft from a vehicle should contact Sgt Forrest on 101.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
