It has been another record breaking year in the Vale’s biggest football league, the ADL.
There were a record 57 teams and 1,500 registered players in 2012 with an astonishing 1,400 matches played.
Over the course of the 35-week season, with the occasional mid-week matches, it is estimated that an amazing 30,000 people, from managers, coaches and other to players and spectators, are involved in the ADL. Of the 57 teams some 15% come from bordering counties Herts, Oxon and Beds.
The league’s committee have their work cut out throughout to keep things running smoothly and do a fantastic job on a weekly basis.
The low point of the year was losing John Walker to cancer while the main highlight has been the introduction of player ID registrations, championed by the clubs themselves.
Meanwhile, Steve Downer and Marc Thoday have ensured that people stay informed on the weekly results and standings by liaising with The Bucks Herald and keeping the league’s official website www.theadl.co.uk updated regularly.
