Words and music with pair of stars

AN evening’s entertainment of words and music starring two famous names is coming to Thame.

Written and devised by town resident Patrick Collins, the event on January 29 at The Players Theatre is described as a mixture of seriousness and humour.

The evening is a series of speeches, readings and musical accompaniment under the title of Thoughts in Cold Storage.

It will feature actor Bruce Alexander and opera singer Adrian Thompson.

Bruce is best known for his role as Superintendent Mullet in the ITV crime drama A Touch Of Frost where he starred alongside Sir David Jason.

He has acted for the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing Ferdinand in the 1989 production of John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi and appeared in the 1997 James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies.

Adrian is an experienced and talented tenor opera singer who lives in Chinnor.

He trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he is now a professor of vocal studies.

Both of the stars are close friends with Patrick who they have worked with many times before.

Patrick, who runs Thame-based theatre group Broken Lace and is an experienced writer, said: “I organise these events about once every nine months or so.

“This is about the eighth time we’ve done it.

“It is for charity and the money we make goes towards Thame Amnesty Group and the good work they do.

“The trailers are always cryptic so people don’t know exactly what to expect but that’s done deliberately but there is an overall theme.

“There is a fair amount of serious content but there is also a lot of humour in there.

“Its an evening’s entertainment and is always very popular. I encourage people to come down as it should be entertaining.”

Tickets cost £7.50, £6 concessions, and are available from Arts Desire, joke shop, in Swan Walk, Thame. Call 01844215440 for further details.
