It’s bah humbug for Rangers after defeat

Risborough Rangers were betane 3-1 by Broxbourne in the South midlands League Division Two on Saturday.

Alex Macdonald got a last-minute consolation for Rangers after good work from man of the match Laurence Clark.

A club spokesman said: “We were not at our best but were undone by some pacy forwards from the home side.”

The reserves also lost, 2-1 at home to Stotfold, with Ben Lewis getting the second string’s goal.

There was better news on Sunday, though, as the club’s youth team consolidated top spot in the South Bucks Youth league Division Four with a 5-2 win away at Prestwood Panthers.

The Risborough scorers were Jack Pearce, Simon Lespearance, Dominic Pavoulouplos and Ryan Morgan (two).

The first team have a home game against Tring Corinthians on Saturday December 29 (kick off 1.15pm) in Division Two League Cup.

There are no more games until the new year for the resserves and youth team.

As Christmas looms the club’s publicity officer, Stephen Burnett has praised fans for their support.

“Thanks for turning up in good numbers throughout the year,averaging around 70 plus in all competitions,” he said.

“We appreciate our loyal following and wish fans of Risborough Rangers a joyous festive season and hope we can deliver some silverware for them.”
