Aylesbury United produced a thrilling comeback in the final five minutes to beat Dunstable Town 3-1 in the Premier Division Cup second round.

Dan Jones grabbed the late equaliser before Stacey Field did the honours and sealed a decisive brace to deal Town their first defeat at Creasey Park this season.

Ducks boss Tony Joyce will hope the result hands his side a morale boost in their bid to reel in Dunstable at the top of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, four points above them with a game in hand.

Initially both sides cancelled each other out but after 16 minutes Dunstable grabbed the opener with Lee Roache finding space to place his shot beyond Jack Sillitoe.

The goal was just the tonic for the home supporters as Dunstable began to dominate possession.

However, United hung in and got their reward when Jones followed up superb sub Joey Acheampong’s mazy run and strike off the upright to hammer home.

Just three minutes later and Jones turned provider when he played a sumptuous defence splitting pass for Field who nonchalantly lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper.

United were not done there though as Field stepped up from the spot after an illegal challenge to grab his 31st of the season.

Acheampong who replaced Louis Austin after 74 minutes had a significant hand in all three goals and Joyce hailed the striker’s contribution.
