Tring Athletic skipper Graham Hall grabbed his 51st goal on his 200th appearance for the club, sending them on their way to their fifth win on the trot.

Vice Captain Chris Salmon added a second goal before half time to make it look like an easy victory. But the reality was very different as Hillingdon Borough pushed Athletic to the end.

Borough arrived just four points and two places above the foot of the table but dominated the first 20 minutes.

Athletic were slow to get going but roused themselves after Connor Waite and Graham Hall linked up nicely to set up a shooting opportunity for Tony Fields in the 17th minute but the resulting effort went over.

Hall smashed in from close range on the half-hour mark latching on to Chris Salmon header from a Connor Waite corner.

With a minute to go before half time the Hall and Salmon combination came up goods again to send Athletic into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead. This time Hall was the provider sending over a curling cross to the far post after a corner had been cleared to him and Chris Salmon rose like his name to thump a header home giving the keeper no chance.

There was a touch of déjà vu about the second half with Boro again seeing a lot of the ball and playing some lovely football but failing to pierce the solid Athletic rearguard. Next up is a visit to Holmer Green on Saturday.
