Extra security is being put on at railway stations in the run up to Christmas after cash and card ticket vending machines were targeted by thieves at Haddenham and Thame Parkway station.
Significant damage was done to the machines as cash and coins were taken early on Monday morning.
It will not be possible to buy tickets online and collect them from the station until these machines are repaired or replaced. The nearest stations to collect tickets booked online are Aylesbury or Princes Risborough.
Extra staff with mobile machines will help during morning peak times.
Chad Collins, head of stations at Chiltern Railways said: “The perpetrators caused significant damage to the machines in the process of taking cash and coins. We have shared the CCTV footage with the police and are working closely with them to assist with their investigations.
“We have also increased overnight security at all of our stations in the run up to Christmas as a precautionary measure.
“Unfortunately, it is not possible to buy tickets online and collect from the station until these machines are repaired or replaced.
“The nearest stations to collect tickets booked online are Aylesbury or Princes Risborough.
“In the meantime, we have additional staff with mobile ticket machines on hand in the morning peak and where possible we will be extending our booking office opening hours to help customers purchase tickets.”
